Puff Pastry Apple Tart

Puff Pastry Apple Tart

It takes less than 20 minutes to put together this Puff Pastry Apple Tart. Then just pop it in the oven and serve warm with some ice cream

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet Puff Pastry thawed
  • 2 Apples two different varieties work well together
  • 2.5 tbsp Butter
  • 1/2 cup Brown Sugar a heaping 1/2 cup
  • 1/2 tsp Cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp Fig Jam
  • 1 pinch Sea Salt
  • ice cream optional

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375F
  • Peel and Slice the Apples. Then toss in a bowl with 1 tbsp melted butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and a pinch of sea salt. Mix well
  • Roll out your thawed Puff pastry sheet into a rectangle over a large piece of parchment paper. Place the parchment paper with the puff pastry on a large baking sheet.
  • Create a 1" border around the rectangle using a butter knife. You want to score the pastry dough without going through the dough completely. This border will help the apple juices stay in the center of the pastry.
  • Arrange your apple slices within the border. Melt 1 tbsp of butter and pour it over the apples.
  • Rub the additional 1/2 tbsp melted butter over the 1" border so that it browns evenly.
  • Bake for 32 minutes at 375F
  • Remove baking sheet from the oven.
  • Add your fig jam to a small bowl and heat it slightly so that it is easy to spread. Using a pastry brush, gently spread the jam over the apples to give it a nice shine.
  • Serve with ice cream

Notes

It is ok if some of the apple juices rolls onto the parchment paper or baking sheet.
