Mix the ground beef in a bowl with the salt, black pepper, and garlic
Divide the mixture into 4 equal balls
Form each ball into a thin patty. Flatten the middle while keeping the sides slightly higher. This ensures that the middle does not bubble up when it is baking.
Cook for 15 minutes. When there is 1-2 minutes left, add one slice of cheese on top of each burger so that it can melt while the burger finishes cooking.
Let each burger rest for an additional 5 minutes
While the burger is resting, you can lightly toast your buns and cut your toppings
