Cinnamon Rolls using Crescent Rolls

This recipe is a semi-homemade recipe for cinnamon rolls. You get to make the filling and the icing, but you use store-bought dough. The dough is the most time-consuming part in my opinion, so I love using this sheet of crescent roll dough. Plus, crescent roll dough is so buttery and soft and I think it makes an incredible base for these cinnamon rolls.

This is a great recipe to get the kids involved. All you have to do is lay out the dough, let them “paint” on the cinnamon sugar, and then they can help roll the dough up. Once the rolls are rolled up, cut them into 8 equal pieces and place them in a buttered baking dish.

For the icing I made a simple sugar glaze. I used to prefer cream cheese frosting, but as I got older I leaned back in to the traditional cinnamon roll icing of powder sugar and milk mixed together. It is super easy to make and tastes perfectly sweet.

Using Crescent Rolls to make Cinnamon Rolls

If you are looking for an easy cinnamon roll recipe to make with kids, this recipe is perfect. Making cinnamon rolls from crescent rolls is a lot more fun than simply taking cinnamon roll “grands” out of the package and placing them in a baking dish. It gives children a chance to be part of the fun!
