Baked Jalapeño Popper Dip with Bacon

A month ago I created a Crab Rangoon Dip topped with Sweet Chili Sauce and it was so popular and eventually went viral. I wanted to make a similar dip that I everyone would love, but without seafood. That is how I came up with this dip. This baked jalapeño popper dip with bacon and fresh jalapeños is the perfect dip to make for a holiday, gameday, or a party. The creamy cheese filling, mixed with the spicy peppers and smokey bacon creates such a perfect balance of flavors and textures. Then I top it with the pepper jelly which gives it a hint of sweetness, and it just becomes over the top. You will absolutely love this dip.

I tested this dip a couple times when I had friends over and the consensus was that it was amazing. It also disappeared really fast from the table. So there is the proof! If I am having a large group, I would definitely plan on doubling this recipe.

Why should you make this Jalapeño Popper dip for your next get-together?

  1. Bold Flavor: This dip combines the creamy deliciousness of cream cheese, mayonnaise, and sour cream, with the bold flavors of fresh jalapeños, garlic, bacon, and melty cheeses.
  2. Versatile Spice Level: You can adjust the spice level in this dish by using more or less jalapeños. Also, I always remove the seeds, but if you love super spicy food, you can keep them in.
  3. Quick and Easy: This dip takes about ten minutes to prep and 25 minutes to bake. With minimal prep and baking time, this recipe is a go-to for a busy host.
  4. Perfect for any occasion: If you are hosting a game day party, holiday, potluck, or just a casual gathering, I know this dip is going to be a crowd pleasure. The addition of the pepper jelly on top is going to make everyone love this dip more than they ever have before.

Jalapeño Popper Dip made in the Slow Cooker

This quick and easy dip recipe takes the delicious taste of jalapeno poppers and turns them into a delicious and scoopable bite. This dip is totally addictive and the perfect dip to make for Superbowl, a holiday, or just a casual gathering with friends.

You can easily make this delicious dip in the slow cooker or crock pot. First, lightly spray the bottom of your slow cooker or crock pot with a cooking spray like olive oil or avocado oil. Then, add all ingredients except for the pepper jelly and half of the bacon to the slow cooker or crock pot. Then, heat it up on low for about 2 hours, stirring every 30 minutes. Once the cheese is all melted, add the rest of the bacon and mix it in. Then, top with pepper jelly and serve with tortilla chips.

Additional Notes for this Jalapeno Popper Dip Recipe

  1. You can use fresh or canned jalapeños in this recipe: I prefer to use fresh ones. The fresh jalapenos add some nice texture to this dip and since I do not use that many, they are not very spicy. If you love jalapenos, you can add more than I did, or you can use a combination of fresh and canned. You can also add in some canned green chiles.
  2. If you do not have sour cream on hand, you can replace it with greek yogurt: I normally have one or the other in my house. Use whichever you prefer.
  3. You can prepare this dip ahead of time: You can make this dip ahead of time and keep it in the refrigerator for up to 3 days unbaked. Make sure to cover it or wrap it tightly with aluminum foil so that it keeps fresh. Once you bake it, you can also keep it in the refrigerator for up to 5 days to enjoy as leftovers.
  4. There are many options to use as dippers: I prefer to use tortilla chips, but you can also use wonton chips, crackers, and bread to scoop up this dip.
  5. Options for Leftovers: Instead of eating this as a dip, you can also use this dip as a filling. During the holidays I make a lot of puff pastry and crescent roll snacks. You can create cups using puff pastry or crescent rolls and then add this dip to the middle to make cute little appetizer bites. Check out my recipe for spinach artichoke bites for inspiration.

I made this last night and it was a huge hit! I threw in some salt, pepper, garlic powder, chives, and a little bbq rub, too. Amazing!

  4. I have made something similar with artichokes and spinach. It is nice to mix it up with something a little different. Love the spicy kick!

  5. Any recommendations on how to make this in a crockpot?

    1. Yes, you can definitely make this in a crockpot. First you should spray your crockpot with cooking spray so nothing sticks. Then, prep your dip the same way I did, add it to the crock pot, and cook on low for 2 hours. Add the pepper jelly after it is done cooking. Enjoy!
