Cuban Sandwich Roll Ups
These Cuban Sandwich Roll Ups come together so quickly and can be made in the air fryer or the oven. Instead of using bread, tortillas are layered with deli sliced ham, pulled pork, swiss cheese, pickles, and mustard. Then I roll it up, bake it until crispy and melted and use my favorite mango vinaigrette as a dip. You will absolutely love the flavor of these!

Cuban Sandwich Roll Ups
If you love the flavor of a cuban sandwich, I know you will enjoy these Cuban sandwich roll-ups. I buy every ingredient from a grocery store, even the pork. Being able to buy these ingredients easily makes prepping this recipe a breeze.
Trader Joe’s carries fully cooked carnitas (seasoned pork shoulder)in their deli section that you are able to just heat and serve. I season this pork slightly as I cook it and then use it in these delicious cuban sandwich wraps. One of the best parts of this recipe is the mango vinaigrette that I use to dip these into. This is also found at Trader Joe’s and it is one of my favorite products of all time. It has a slight tang and a slight sweetness. It isn’t over powering in any way and it adds such a great Caribbean flavor to these Cuban sandwich roll ups.
Each roll up uses one tortilla, but if you want to serve these as an appetizer or use as part of a boxed lunch, you can slice each roll up into little cuban sandwich pinwheels. You should be able to get about 6 cuban sandwich pinwheels out of each tortilla.
If you are looking for a vegetable side dish to pair with this recipe, check out my recipe for Roasted Sweet Potato and Brussels Sprouts with Lemon Vinaigrette.
Air fryer Cuban Sandwich
These Cuban sandwich roll ups are a mix of a cuban sandwich and a flauta. Mexican flautas are flour tortillas that are stuffed with taco fillings, rolled up, and then fried. One of my favorite parts about this recipe is that I can use my air fryer. I assemble my wraps, add them to an air fryer seam side down, and then I spray them with a little avocado oil spray. Then I heat them in my air fryer for about 8 minutes or until the ends start to get brown and the middle is melty.
Here is the order that I assemble them. First, you lay down your tortilla. Then you add some ham and Swiss cheese, followed by a little of the pork shoulder. I then add a little bit of pickle salsa or chopped pickles and mustard and then I roll them up. They come out so crispy and delicious and are ready in just 8 minutes.
What do you need to make Cuban Sandwiches?
- Bread/Tortilla – To make a traditional Cuban sandwich you should use fresh Cuban bread. Once the sandwich is assembled, the bread gets pressed until all of the ingredients are warm and toasty. In this recipe, I use a flour tortilla to wrap all of the ingredients up and then I baked it until melted.
- Deli Sliced Ham – You an either go to the deli counter and ask for ham or buy it prepacked at any grocery store. Honey ham works great and brings a little sweetness.
- Cooked Shredded Pork – Traditionally pork shoulder is used which is something that is common in Cuban cuisine. You can use pulled pork in this recipe (without bbq sauce) or you can sometimes find “carnitas” that are fully cooked and prepared in some grocery stores. I found carnitas at my Trader Joes and I added a little bit of seasoning to it.
- Cheese – Swiss cheese is traditionally used for this sandwich.
- Pickles – I found “pickle salsa” called Pickle de Gallo and I loved it in this recipe because all of the pickles are finely chopped. If you use regular pickles, chop them well so that you have a little bit of pickle in every bite.
- Mustard – You do not need a lot in this recipe. I used yellow mustard but some people also like dijon mustard in this recipe.
- Dipping Sauce (optional) – I use mango vinaigrette that I found at Trader Joes and it went so well with this.
