Crescent Roll Wreath
This crescent roll wreath is stuffed with sweet cranberry sauce, creamy brie cheese, and crispy prosciutto. Then, once baked it is topped with hot honey and crushed pistachios. If you really want to wow your guests this holiday season, the flavors here are absolutely amazing and the presentation is absolutely stunning.
Cranberry and Brie
These crescent roll wreaths are an absolute show stopper and a “must-make” if you are hosting during the holidays. The pairing of cranberry sauce and brie cheese is very popular around the holidays and I love seeing it pop up in different types of recipes.
I love the flavor on it’s own, but I also like for there to be a pop of saltiness, as well. I decided that crisping up some prosciutto and stuffing it inside the wreath with the cranberry sauce and brie would be an excellent choice. Bacon is also a good choice, but it is a bit greasier and heavier than prosciutto and I wanted to let the other flavors shine. If you like prosciutto, check out my prosciutto wrapped brie recipe.
I originally saw this recipe on the Pioneer Woman. She made a version of this and I thought it was so beautiful. Hers had cranberry sauce, brie, and pistachios on the inside, and then it was topped with honey.
My version includes crispy prosciutto for a touch of saltiness and I also drizzled mine with hot honey once it was done baking and added some chopped pistachios. The flavors are just WOW! Sweet, Salty, Savory, and just a tiny bit of spice.
Cranberry Brie Crescent Roll Wreath
This easy appetizer is a great option to prepare ahead of time and then pop it into the oven when your guests arrive. If you want to bake it right after prepping it, you can do that to, and it takes less than 30 minutes from start to finish. I love appetizers that allow me more time with my guests and less time in the kitchen.
Not only does this appetizer taste delicious, it is beautiful. I love garnishing this wreath with fresh rosemary around the wreath to make it look incredibly festive. All of the ingredients in this dish are very easy to find. And honestly, you don’t need to use name brand crescent rolls to make this. I used a store brand and they were actually better.
Tips and Tricks
- Keep your crescent roll in your refrigerator until you are ready to use it. This will keep it colder and firmer. If it is too warm it will be a little stickier and more difficult to work with.
- Use a small bowl in the middle of your wreath to create a perfect circle. Lay the crescent roll around the bowl and then remove the bowl once your wreath has been formed. You should not put the bowl in the oven.
- Once the wreath comes out of the oven, drizzle with honey and immediately add crushed pistachios. They will stick to the honey and make it easier to decorate.
How to make a Crescent Roll Wreath
INGREDIENTS
- 2 packs Crescent Rolls – I used a store brand crescent roll and they were even better than the name brand.
- 8 oz Brie or Camembert – I have made this dish a couple of times and I have used both cheeses. Choose whichever one you like more.
- 4 oz Prosciutto – It is important to crisp these up in a little olive oil before you start making your wreath. I don’t even use a knife to cut it up, I just rip it with my fingers.
- 1/3 cup Cranberry Sauce – you can use homemade or store bought
- 1 egg – This is for the egg wash at the end and in my opinion it really brings the whole wreath together and gives it a golden brown color.
- water
- Hot Honey – This is not that spicy and goes well with the other flavors
- 15 Pistachios crushed – Remove the shells
- Fresh Rosemary for decoration
INSTRUCTIONS
- Crisp up your prosciutto by tearing it into bite size pieces and adding it to a pan with 1/2 tablespoon of oil. Cook it on medium heat, stirring occasionally.
- Cut the brie into slices. You can remove the rind if you would like and then cut the brie into slices.
- Preheat your oven to 375F
- Lay a piece of parchment paper on a baking sheet. Add a small bowl to the center of the parchment paper. Choose a small bowl, no more than 4 inches in diameter. This will help you maintain the center circle shape perfectly,
- Open up your crescent rolls and lay down your first crescent roll. Place the crescent roll triangles with the points sticking out away from the bowl, making sure to overlap the bases to fit around the 4″ bowl. Don’t press down until all of the rolls are placed down so that you can move them around easily if you need to.
- Once the rolls are in position, gently press down on the bases and create a nice flat area to add your cranberry sauce. Spoon your cranberry sauce onto the bases and then top with your brie.
- Add your crispy prosciutto on top and then carefully remove the bowl in the middle.
- Take each pointed side of the crescent roll and fold it underneath the wreath. Make sure the filling is not showing or else it will ooze out while baking.
- Make an egg wash by combining an egg and 1 tablespoon of water and whisk it together. Gently brush the egg wash over the wreath.
- Bake for 18-19 minutes. It should be a nice deep golden brown color when it is done.
- Drizzle hot honey on top of the wreath and sprinkle the crushed pistachios
- Carefully transfer the wreath to a plate and decorate with fresh rosemary.
