Prosciutto Wrapped Baked Brie

I feel like people eat their weight in cheese during the holiday season. And why not, right? It is the season of indulgence and also the season of celebration. We get together with our loved ones to celebrate the holidays, and another year of being alive. I’m lucky to have a great family, one that is not only tolerable (haha) but also one that I LOVE to eat with. This prosciutto wrapped baked brie is the type of dish all of us stand up and hover around trying to get the perfect bite, while simultaneously burning out mouths and laughing about something. Ahhh the holidays! I paired this prosciutto wrapped brie with some hot honey, because brie goes so well with something sweet, plus I wanted the added kick of this subtle spice.

I created this dish because I absolutely love baked brie, but didn’t want to make ANOTHER dish with puff pastry. Also, at some point in the holiday season, a lot of stores sell out of Puff Pastry, and I didn’t want a grocery store trying to hold back my creativity. 🙂

Do you remove the rind of the brie before baking?

No. The rind will help the cheese stay inside while being baked. If you remove the rind, you will have a huge mess. Also, the rind is edible and tastes so good mixed in with the melty brie and prosciutto.

What goes well with Baked Brie?

I love pairing fruit and bread with baked brie. I also love the addition of the hot honey in this dish. If you do not like spice, you can use regular honey, maple syrup, or fruit preserves.

Ingredients Needed for Prosciutto Wrapped Baked Brie:

Only two ingredients are needed. A round brie and 4 ounces of prosciutto. I do recommend adding either hot honey, honey, maple syrup, or fruit preserves to balance out the flavor.

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Preheat oven to 375F
  • On a cutting board, or non stick surface, lay out the prosciutto in a star shape by overlapping one end of each of the slices.
  • Place the round brie in the center of the prosciutto star.
  • Drizzle hot honey on top of the brie
  • Fold over each slice of prosciutto, so that all sides of the brie are covered.
  • Turn over the prosciutto wrapped brie and place on a parchement paper lined baking sheet
  • Bake at 375 for 20-25 minutes
  • Remove from the oven and drizzle with more hot honey. Serve with apple slices and crackers
