Cottage Cheese Green Goddess Dip

This high protein cottage cheese green goddess dip is a blend of creamy whipped cottage cheese, avocado, lemon, garlic, and herbs. It is a nutritious dip that feels decadent at the same time. I love to eat this with some toasted sourdough bread and some crudite. It tastes absolutely delicious and it is going to be a staple in my house all summer long.

Green Goddess Dip made with Cottage Cheese

Easy Green Goddess Dip

A few years ago, Trader Joe’s sold a green goddess dip and it was absolutely delicious. I am really surprised they discontinued it because it was delicious, but I guess it just was not selling as well as some of their other, more established dips.

I always knew of green goddess dip to include tarragon, but when I looked at the ingredient list on the green goddess dip, I didn’t see tarragon, and instead I saw basil. Since I love basil I decided I was going to make my own version of green goddess dip one day using basil. Some of the other ingredients in the Trader Joe’s version included sour cream, chives, garlic, parsley, lemon juice, and avocado. Now that the dip is discontinued I figured this was a great time to try to make a healthier version of the Trader Joe’s dip. If you have been missing the Trader Joe’s Green Goddess dip too, you will LOVE this dip.

Dips are some of my favorite things to make because they are so easy. I can just throw everything in a high speed blender or food processor and it is done. No real cooking needs to happen, not even any chopping! If you like this dip, you should also check out my Whipped Cottage Cheese Dip with Pesto and my Spicy Whipped Feta Dip.

Avocado Green Goddess Dip

Avocado is such a great addition to any creamy dip. It blends in beautifully and it gives dips the richness that it needs. Even if you are not a huge fan of avocado, trust me, just add it!

Instead of using sour cream in my green goddess dip I used cottage cheese because I recently learned how healthy it is. While, cottage cheese is made with dairy, it is by far healthier than sour cream, and even healthier than yogurt. Cottage cheese only has 163 calories per cup. It also has 28 grams of protein per cup, which is the same amount of protein as 4 large eggs. Yogurt is also low in calories, but only has 12 grams of protein per cup.

If you are wondering about the nutritional value of Sour Cream, it has 492 calories per cup, and only 7 grams of protein. Using cottage cheese plus avocado in this dip, makes it a nutritional powerhouse!

SOOO good. Herbaceous and tangy. I added a little bit of yogurt to help get it smooth (that’s due to my food processor). I can see endless possibilities for this from a sandwich spread to just dipping some veggies and crackers into it.
