Big Mac Loaded French Fries

Who doesn’t like a big pile of delicious french fries topped with melted cheese? I love cheese fries and I remember traveling to Canada once and discovering poutine. I was so excited that Canadians invented a way to turn cheese fries into a full meal. Who knew that if you added a few toppings to a pile of french fries that you would get a delicious and satisfying meal. And it doesn’t have to be a pile a grease. You can make these loaded big mac fries in a way that is satisfying and doesn’t feel heavy.

There are many different types of toppings you can use to make loaded fries, but I wanted to keep things simple and just add a few for this recipe. One of my most popular recipes on this site are my Loaded Fries with Cheese, Bacon, and Ranch. Loaded fries are a delicious snack you can share with some friends while watching sports or even a more casual night just hanging out. I also like to make this as a meal on days when I need something that I know for sure everyone will eat.

Loaded Fries with Ground Beef

In order to make these big mac loaded fries round up all your favorite big mac toppings and grab a large baking sheet. You will need seasoned ground beef, diced onions, shredded yellow cheese, lettuce, pickles, and big mac sauce. First you have to bake your french fries alone so that they get nice and crispy. Then. you add your cooked beef and cheese on top of the loaded fries and bake it slightly until the cheese melts. Once it is out of the oven, add some shredded lettuce, chopped pickles, and your favorite big mac sauce.

When I make these loaded big mac fries I usually make it as a meal, but it is a great option to also make as a snack to share with friends. Since this recipe uses ground beef, it has a good amount of protein. I normally use very lean ground beef for this recipe since I am also adding cheese and sauce. 96/4 lean ground beef is perfect for this recipe. Alternately, ground turkey or ground chicken can also be used. Cook the ground meat with some onions first and then season it and then add the cheese.

For these loaded fries I start with a bag of frozen french fries. There are some brands out there that make really great frozen fries these days. I love the ones from Trader Joe’s. They taste like real potatoes and they crisp up well in the oven. You can also use your air fryer to crisp up your fries before adding the rest of the toppings.

For the cheese, I like choosing two types of cheese, but you can also find one of those “3 cheese blend” bags of shredded so that you don’t have to buy two different cheeses. I like to buy my cheese in brick form because once it is shredded it melts evenly and fast. Some brands add ingredients to their shredded cheese to keep it from clumping together in the bag. So, if you buy a brick of cheese, you eliminate that ingredient from the cheese.

The big mac sauce is a very important part of this meal. I add instructions below about how to make your own big mac sauce using mayonnaise, relish, mustard, onion, vinegar and spices but if you are short on time or do not want to make your own, you can use thousand island dressing.

Loaded Fries Ingredients

French Fries – To make these loaded fries you need to start with a great base of french fries. If making homemade french fries is important to you, you can make your own. I prefer to start with a base of frozen french fries for convenience. Also, I really do like the taste and texture of the Trader Joe’s frozen fries it is a win! You can definitely make this recipe in an air fryer if your air fryer has a large basket. I prefer to use a sheet pan and make oven baked french fries. Add the fries to the baking sheet in a single layer. If you layer them too much then they will not get crispy.

Cheese – I like to buy blocks of cheese and shred them myself because they melt faster and better. My favorites to use for big mac loaded fries are a mild cheddar cheese or other orange cheese.

Ground Beef – For this recipe I like to use 96/4 ground beef which is a lean ground beef. Since you are adding a lot of cheese and sauce to this recipe, you can choose a leaner beef. I normally season my meat with seasoning salt by Lawry’s.

Big Mac Sauce – You can either use a premade burger sauce or you can use my recipe below to make your own “secret” sauce. I make my big mac sauce using mayonnaise, mustard, relish, onion, paprika, garlic powder, and salt

Onions – I love the punch of freshness diced onions give a dish. I cut my onion very finely and cook it into the meat to soften it and to give the meat some extra flavor.
