I love using biscuit dough to make fun concoctions and I knew that some people used biscuit dough to make deep fried donuts in a deep fryer. Well, I love all things “air fryer” so I preheated mine and tried these out. The result? Delicious homemade air fryer donuts in under 10 minutes.
Can you Air Fry Donuts?
Yes you can! I use biscuit dough to make mine, and then I cook them in the air fryer for 5 minutes. You can make donuts that taste like they were made from scratch.
Can you refrigerate Air Fryer Donuts?
In my experience, these donuts should be eaten fresh. When they are freshly made they taste like a yeast donut, but as they sit out, they become more dense. I tried refrigerating my leftovers and they just were not as good as when I made them fresh. If you have a few friends coming over for brunch, these are perfect to make, and your friends can help you eat them.
INGREDIENTS
- 1 can Refrigerated Buttermilk Biscuit Dough pillsbury, trader joe’s, etc
- Avocado Oil Spray to make sure they do not stick to the air fryer
Maple Glaze
- 1/2 powdered sugar
- 5 tbsp Pure Maple Syrup
Cinnamon Sugar Donuts
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1.5 tsp ground cinnamon
- 5 tbsp butter melted
INSTRUCTIONS
- Preheat Air Fryer to 360F
- Use a 1″ cookie cutter to remove the center of each biscuit. You will have 8 donuts and 8 donut holes.
- Spray air fryer with avocado or coconut oil cooking spray before you place the donuts in the air fryer.
- Place donuts in the Air Fryer. I had to cook the donuts in two batches and then I cooked the donut holes together in a third batch.
- While the donuts are cooking, make your topping. If you are making a maple glaze, mix together the two ingredients in a bowl to form a glaze. If you are making the cinnamon sugar, melt the butter in a bowl first, and combine the cinnamon and sugar in a separate bowl.
- Cook donuts for 5 minutes and cook donut holes for 3 minutes
- Once donuts are cooking, either dip them in the maple glaze OR dip them in butter and then the cinnamon sugar mixture.
Notes – These donuts are best eaten immediately. When they are first cooked, they feel like a “yeast” donut, but the longer they sit out the more dense they get and they turn into a “cake” donut.
