Air Fryer Hot Dogs

A delicious and crispy hotdog can be yours without ever firing up the grill! Air Fryer hot dogs are a total game-changer for this summer and I have made them twice in two days. I am a usually a two hot dog type of girl so I like to have one beef and one chicken dog just for balance.

Are hot dogs good in an air fryer?

Yes, so good and they take less than 10 minutes to cook. I can confirm this works well for both beef hot dogs and chicken hot dogs. Beef hot dogs have a slight edge since it’s more delicious to begin with (imo). The hot dogs gets so crispy on the outside and are so juicy on the inside.

First, you cook the hot dog alone with the bun for 6-7 minutes, and then you put in in a bun and cook it for another 2 minutes. The bun gets nice and toasty and it is so delicious. Hot dogs made on the grill are so good, but these are also so good and can be made without stepping outside. Win!

Air Fryer Hot Dogs and Onion Rings

Can you air fry a hot dog?

Sure you can! Air fry them without the bun for 6-7 minutes at 390F, and then put them in the bun and air fry them for an additional 2 minutes. Delicious air fried hotdogs ready in under 10 minutes.

Cooking Method – I used my Ninja Foodi on the Air Crisp setting at 390 for 6 minutes to make these. Then, I removed the hotdogs from the air frier, placed them in a bun and air fried in the bun for an additional 2 minutes.

Tips and Tricks for making delicious Air Fryer Hot Dogs

  1. Make diagonal slits in the hot dogs before cooking them. It is not necessary, but it helps cook them more “grill-like”.
  2. You do not need any oil or oil spray to make these hotdogs. They will not stick.
  3. Top your hotdogs once they are done cooking with relish, mustard, ketchup, or even some grilled onions and mushrooms.
  4. Serve these with a salad, french fries, or onion rings.

EQUIPMENT

INGREDIENTS

  • 6 Hot Dogs
  • 6 Hot Dog Buns
  • Mustard optional
  • Ketchup optional
  • Sauerkraut optional
  • Relish optional

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Remove Hotdogs from package and use a knife to make 5 shallow diagonal cut marks in each hotdog. This will give the hotdog room to expand while cooking plus it looks great! Make sure to not cut too deep, you really only want to slice the skin of the hotdog.
  • Preheat your airfryer (or don’t). I have done this with or without preheating and they both come out great.
  • Add 6 hotdogs to the air fryer basket. I have a large Air Fryer so this fits easily. If you do not have a spacious air fryer, cook the hotdogs in two batches. Cook for 6 minutes at 390F
  • Remove the hotdogs from the airfryer, put them in a bun, and place the bun with the hotdog back in the airfryer. This will ensure the bread gets nice and toasty! Don’t skip this step. Cook for an additional 2 minutes at 390F. Also, make sure there is space between each bun. This allows the bun to get nicely toasted all around.
  • Remove from air fryer, add toppings, and enjoy!

These are the best at home hot dog I’ve ever had. Loved them so much that I made them twice this week! And even the husband is over the moon about them. I thought the air fryer was amazing before making these- but now, I’m confident I’ll never not have an air fryer on my kitchen counter.
